The Virginia Department of Health, Office of Health Equity awarded WMUV a Prayer Partner Grant of $20,000.00. The funding is made available through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Initiatives to Address COVID-19 Health Disparities Among Populations at High-Risk and Underserved, Including Racial and Ethnic Minorities and Rural Communities.

WMUV partnered with Project: Ruth in Bucharest, Romania several years ago as they worked and ministered among the Roma population. Our brothers and sisters in Christ are now also meeting needs among Ukrainian refugees by housing them at the Ruth School and Providence Baptist Church in Bucharest. We would like to walk alongside them through prayer and financial support by providing specific prayer requests from our partners at the Ruth School and contributing funds to care for refugees.

Nurses are like angels of the Lord sent to provide compassionate healing care, sometimes even under the harshest conditions. If we never realized their worth in years gone by, during this pandemic we know the labor of love of these frontline workers.

As we continue through the COVID-19 pandemic, I had hopes as you may have had that we by now would have surpassed the continued need for strict precautions and the rise of variants and surges in illness would have slowed. But it seems we are forced to adjust to a new normal.

Through the V3 Movement, BGAV is actively involved in planting churches. Some of the funds from the Alma Hunt State Missions Offering go directly to these efforts as they reach new people and communities with the life-changing love of Jesus Christ.

BGAV has entered into a long-term community development strategy focused on lifting communities out of extreme poverty. This new partnership will be focused in the Chinandega region of Nicaragua with an organization new to us–Food for the Hungry (FH).

Ministry might look different on the mountain during a global pandemic, but God still moves in incredible ways. At CrossRoads Adventure Days, guests experienced outdoor activities and meals, worship, and safely distanced community

In the more than 50 years Virginia Baptists have been active in Disaster Response (DR), we’ve learned a lot about the long-term effects of a disaster.

In March 2020, Dr. Lynne Stockman led the first mission trip of a three-year partnership to Mully Children’s Family (MCF) in Kenya to provide medical care to children in need and the surrounding community. The team provided care to over 2,200 patients in five days, some who walked over 20 miles to get to the mobile clinic.

In 2018, Virginia Baptists began a partnership on the Eastern Shore of Virginia with Cape Charles Baptist and other local churches. The relationship grew out of Impact Mission Camps and gave churches an opportunity to support ministries on the Eastern Shore
