Mom & Me Weekend

  • Eagle Eyrie 1 Eagle Eyrie Drive Lynchburg, VA, 24503 United States (map)

You’re invited to bring your elementary age daughters and come to an overnight retreat to learn more about being on mission for God. Come, meet a missionary, take a hike, do a craft, learn a dance, and worship with other girls and mom/leaders.

Mom & Me I: Friday, April 22-Saturday, April 23

Mom & Me II: Saturday, April 23- Sunday, April 24

An Optional mission project you and your daughter can complete is purchasing supplies for a Disaster Relief Flood Bucket! These buckets are donated to survivors of natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and more.

WORSHIP LEADER: SARA DAY HEALY

“Go”. What a simple, yet daunting command given by God. Throughout the Bible, God intentionally used ordinary… but obedient people to fulfill his plan and bring many to salvation.

My name is Sarah Day Healy and I have participated with Mom and Me as a camper and the worship leader for 3 years. Through camp experiences like this, my life was radically interrupted by God’s grace that called me to salvation and continual surrender. I graduated Liberty University in 2019 and married my husband in June of 2020. Together, we moved to Williamsburg so he could study law and I began my career as an Elementary music teacher. Outside of school, we commit to serving our neighborhood church by leading worship, volunteering with youth, and simply building community.

As we prepare for this weekend, I am praying that the Lord would use us, ordinary people to fulfill his plan and call many to salvation. I pray for soft hearts and open eyes so we may see His kingdom and obey his command to “go” where he leads.

SPEAKER: KRISTEN CURTIS

Kristen Curtis serves as the Training and Crisis Care Team Coordinator for Virginia Baptist Disaster Response.  Primarily, she works to train BGAV volunteers to support disaster survivors through a hot meal, through spiritual and emotional care, and through the cleanup and rebuilding process in areas devastated by natural and man-made disasters.

This is more than a job to Kristen, as she lives just a few miles from where tornadoes touched down in Appomattox County in February of 2016 and she began her career with disaster response coordinating volunteers locally.  Making connections between Virginia Baptists and her neighbors in need and helping them find a “new normal” while experiencing the love of God in a very tangible way through the efforts of his people created a passion for continuing this work on a larger scale, responding to other localities touched by disaster. As a pastor’s wife, she also loves helping churches connect disaster response skills and principles with local church ministry.

In addition to her work with Disaster Response, Kristen serves as a relief chaplain at Centra Southside Community Hospital.  And her favorite and most important ministry is as a mom to Morgan, 17; Cate, 16; and John, 13; and as a wife to Scott (pastor of Heritage Baptist Church in Farmville, VA).
