Woman’s Missionary Union of Virginia Executive Director/Treasurer
The Woman’s Missionary Union of Virginia (WMUV) is seeking an Executive Director/Treasurer (ED/T) to lead the 150-year-old organization into a changing future. The mission of WMUV is to equip and inspire churches to be on mission with God. WMUV affirms Christ’s call on a woman’s life, a missional response to the world’s needs, and the development of missional leaders.
The ED/T will provide visionary leadership, strategic development and oversight for all WMUV operations. Under the authority and direction of the Board of Trustees, the ED/T assumes responsibility for day-to-day operations of the organization. This includes but is not limited to financial and personnel management, implementation of assigned policies and regulations of WMUV, corporate compliance of records, legal documents, agreements and contracts. The ED/T is responsible for facilitating planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of ministries and programs. The ED/T will develop relationships with and be accountable to the Board of Trustees. The ED/T will possess good communication skills and will act as the public face of WMUV and will nurture relationships with key partners in ministry. The ED/T will promote awareness, network, and engage in speaking opportunities to further the WMUV mission.
The ED/T shall profess a personal relationship with Christ and a faith that is evident in congregational involvement, and workplace behavior and attitude. The ED/T shall demonstrate high character and integrity, be capable of effective and respectful interaction across diverse theological and interpersonal perspectives, be able to exhibit humility and competence concurrently, and be a proven leader. The ED/T shall work for Woman’s Missionary Union of Virginia and will not engage in other business ventures or advocate for such outside of the discretion of the Board of Trustees.
Skills and Proficiencies:
Ability to promote and support the work within the core values of WMUV
Proficiency in financial management (budgeting complex systems, fundraising, and grant writing)
Proficiency in organizational development (long range planning, strategic analysis, transformational leadership, and public relations and marketing)
Self-starter and team implementer
Ability to manage staff, ensuring appropriate delegation and completion of tasks
Ability to work compassionately, cooperatively and tactfully with WMUV team, individual stake holders, volunteers, and partners
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, with small groups, and to larger audiences
Appreciation of the heritage and potential of WMU/WMUV
Knowledge and Experience:
College Degree required, advanced and/or seminary degree(s) preferred
Advanced education/experience in financial and personnel management and organizational development
