Our Partners

WMUV partners with organizations who share the same core values and purpose : Challenging each person to join Jesus Christ where He is at work in the world.

Our partners include:

Baptist General Association of Virginia
The Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) is a cooperative missions and ministry organization that consist of over 1,400 autonomous churches in the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as churches from the states of West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Maryland, Tennessee, and Minnesota. Geography does not limit churches from joining the mission and vision of the BGAV.

Since 1874, WMUV has enjoyed a partnering commitment to the Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV). WMUV  affirms Christ command to live a missional lifestye, Christ calling on a woman’s life, the spiritual giftnedness of all believers, the development of leaders, the responsibility for social issues, and prayer in its work with the churches of the BGAV.  Based upon a shared vision, the organizations renewed their continuing commitment in a Partnership Agreement in 2007.

Through our Partnership Covenant with the Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) , WMUV provides resources, strategies, meaningful experiences, connecting points, and leadership opportunities; to cast a unified mission vision for Virginia Baptist churches, develop “hands-on” mission opportunities, bridge intergenerational groups, and mentor future mission leaders.

Woman’s Missionary Union
Woman’s Missionary Union
® (WMU) is a national organization which strives to challenge Christian believers to understand and be radically involved in the mission of God. Since its beginning in 1888, WMU has been true to its basic purpose: missions.

In 1888, a handful of women dedicated to the cause of missions founded Woman’s Missionary Union®. Since that time, WMU® has become the largest Protestant missions organization for women in the world, with a membership of approximately 1 million.

From the beginning, WMU’s main purpose has been to educate and involve women, girls, and preschoolers in the cause of Christian missions. Throughout its history, WMU has been an auxiliary to the Southern Baptist Convention, which means that it acts as a “helper” to the SBC. The auxiliary status also means that WMU is self-governing and self-supporting.

National WMU receives no funds from the Cooperative Program allocation budget, Annie Armstrong Easter Offering®, or Lottie Moon Christmas Offering®. National WMU is supported through the sale of magazines and products, and from investments.

The Missions Focus of Woman’s Missionary Union:

Pray for and give to missions.
Do missions.
Learn about missions.
Develop spiritually toward a missions lifestyle.
Participate in the work of the church and denomination.
