S P A: Women on Mission and Racial Reconciliation

Imagine joining with your besties for a spa experience. Attached is a Facilitator’s Guide to show you how to host a S~P~A.  It is a spiritual learning experience to engage in a space of retreat and selfcare. Opportunities like this can reduce our anxiety in a troubled world.

WMUV sponsored a six-week online S~P~A. This ministry is WMU of Virginia’s response to racial reconciliation.

In Virginia, fourteen women on mission met weekly to tell their stories in a supportive and non-judgmental atmosphere.  The stories told about racism, discrimination and of guilt kept us in a posture of holy silence as we learned from one another.

May you lead like Jesus as we love our neighbors.

Interested in engaging the work of S~P~A through a video curriculum?

Kathy Berry participated in the first of three S~P~A cohorts. Retired chaplain, author, and a specialist in ministering to those with dementia and their caregivers, she felt called to take the 6-week experience and produce a 4-week curriculum called S~P~A:. Missions and Racial Reconciliation. This curriculum is a catalyst to help Christ followers reflect and engage in crucial conversations related to race and our Christian witness. All proceeds benefit the mission and ministry of WMUV.
