Plans are underway for several joint projects between WMUV and WMUI. As strategies are developed, information will be posted to this website.
The first project is Loving Touch, a project where an individual or group can sponsor women in India and help give them a better quality of life.
“Show respect to the aged; honor the presence of an elder; fear your God. I am God.”
Leviticus 19:32 (The Message)
The people in the Idukki district (eastern part) of Kerala were dependent on the tea plantations for their daily living, but for the last 10 years most of the plantations have closed down and people are going through a lot of challenges.
Divya Matthew and the executive team of WMUI visited and assessed the needs of many elderly women living in this region. Their goal is to be able to provide clothing, medicine, vitamins, and at least one meal a day. Divya says, “I left those women with a heavy heart…their situation invites our sympathy.”
Although great poverty abounds in this area of Kerala, the elderly women are the most neglected. By providing a nourishing meal, medical attention, activities and Bible Study each day, we can show these women that they have value and worth in God’s Kingdom.
Since the inception of “Loving Touch” in the Idukki district, Divya has connected with aged women in the Pollam and Kolladu areas outside of Kottayam who also need our prayers and support.
