WMUV – Woman's Missionary Union of Virginia

Updraft is technically a weather term – it’s a strong upward movement of air that often produces a thunderstorm.

It’s a powerful movement with big results.

For WMUV, Updraft^SM is a customized mission experience for middle and high school students (ages 12-18). Previous Updraft^SM teams have served in Roanoke, Norfolk, South Africa, and Charlotte. Updraft^SM is intentionally designed to be more than just a short-term mission trip – we want to ensure that the trip is one step toward sustainable missional living for the students and adults who participate.

The activities completed during Updraft^SM are based upon the passions and gifts of the team, as well as the needs of the community they are serving.

Some possibilities include working with:

• Construction
• Painting
• Music
• Day Camps
• Vacation Bible School
• Food Pantry
• Homeless Shelter
