Outstanding GA
Every year a 4-6 grade girl who exhibits developing leadership skills and portrays a missional lifestyle is selected as the Outstanding GA from the nominations received from churches across Virginia. It is with much pleasure Woman’s Missionary Union of Virginia announces Hannah Elisabeth Craft as the Outstanding GA 2011.
Hannah Craft is a 6th grader who is active in Girls in Action at North Run Baptist Church in the Dover Association. Hannah is enthusiastic in her learning about missions, praying for missions, and doing missions. June Wikowsky, GA leader at North Run, describes Hannah as having an “exuberance for missions.”
Hannah is a leader among her peers, participates in GA missions projects, and is actively engaged in the missions learning and activities at North Run Baptist Church as well. Hannah recently went on a missions trip to Louisiana to help lead a Vacation Bible School. She made crocheted washcloths to give to families of the children she met at the Bible School, so she could share God’s love with them. Hannah describes the missions trip has having a “great impact on my life, and has inspired me to keep doing missions work.”
As the Outstanding GA, Hannah will receive the Lisk Scholarship, which enables her to attend a week of summer camp at CrossRoads Camp and Conference Center. She will also participate in leadership roles at various WMUV events throughout the upcoming year. The Lisk Scholarship is awarded each year in memory of two outstanding GAs who loved to attend summer camp, Kati and Kristen Lisk.
