Shine (Weekender)
SHINE 2013 ~ STEPPIN’ OUT provided a time for teen girls and their leaders to be challenged by keynote speaker Tiffany Hall, to Step Up, Step Down, and Step Out, as we learned to serve in humility, to be our unique selves, and to boldly share our faith within our communities and around the world.
Breakout sessions helped make students aware of modern day slavery and human trafficking in our communities as well as how we can protect ourselves from being trafficked, by observing social media safety and personal self defense. They learned how WorldCrafts helps provide a living wage to artisans around the world, many of whom are victims of trafficking. Many other sessions of interest to the girls were offered as well as two sessions offered for the leaders.
Over 100 new tennis shoes and 240 flip flops were collected for the WMUV Standing Rock Indian Reservation mission trip this summer, and the offering collected will provide meals for our native friends on the Standing Rock Reservation.
THANKS to the Student Ministry Council and the 2013 State Panelists for all their hard work!
