Uptick
Uptick is a leadership development track for high-potential leaders. Initially designed and offered by the Spence Network, Uptick has expanded into a joint venture with partners who share the goal of providing an accelerated track for high-potential leaders who have already demonstrated significant “apostolic” potential.
WMUV and the Spence Network created Women’s Uptick as a process to:
- Empower and connect women who have a heart for congregation-based ministries, and who are either currently serving in ministry or will start and/or lead ministries, some of which may not yet presently exist.
- Give women access to opportunities, conversations and networks that may not otherwise be available
Candidates are typically identified through referral from established leaders and must be interviewed by WMUV and/or the Spence Network. Each annual class of Women’s Uptick is limited to six (6) leaders.
The Uptick process will provide a wide-ranging set of large and small group experiences, including conferences, forums, and personal coaching to develop the leadership ability of candidates. Current experiences include:
- Catalyst Conference, www.catalystspace.com/events/atlanta
- 3D Ministries “Accelerate Community”, www.3dministries.com
- 21C Leadership Conference, www.21-C.org
- Spring Retreat at CrossRoads Camp and Conference Center, www.crossroadsccc.com
- Each person will be assigned a personal leadership coach from October until July. Typically, there will be one monthly telephone conversation of up to one hour with the coach, scheduled at the convenience of the participant and coach.
- Each person will participate in “leadership huddles” beginning in October, which are bi-monthly telephone conference calls (lasting 60-90 minutes) designed to help you develop spiritually as a leader, build your friendships with peer leaders, heighten accountability to your own goals, and construct a discipleship path for you into the future.
- At the end of the year (August/September), participants are expected to write their ‘future story’ as discerned through the experiences and conversations of the Uptick process. It will be within the discretion of the Spence Network and WMUV as to whether additional resources will be available to assist with the future story.
WMUV will underwrite all costs associated with Women’s Uptick. In exchange, participants are
expected to engage fully and completely in all scheduled activities.
